Presentation:
Clear gelatin capsules enclosing orange-coloured granules, containing Sterculia BP 118 mg in each capsule.
Uses:
Bulk promoting agent, exerting its effect mainly by a hydrophilic action: the sterculia in Peridale takes up as much as 60 times its own volume of water, forming a gelatinous mass this increases the bulk of the intestinal contents, promotes peristalsis and helps to ensure the easy passage of a soft stool. Sterculia is an otherwise inert substance, not absorbed and so not exerting any systemic effect.
Indications
In cats: Control of specific and non-specific diarrhoea; control of faecal consistency following surgery; after-surgery constipation.
Usage and administration:
Kittens: 1 capsule daily.
Cats
1 capsule night and morning.
Contra-indications, warnings, etc:
Contra-indications
Foreign body impaction where enterotomy or enterectomy is urgent.
Warnings
In all cases, adequate supportive therapy should be administered where necessary. During treatment fluid should be provided or a moist diet given.
Pharmaceutical precautions:
Store in a cool place. An expiry date is given on the package.
